Name of the project – We don’t want another Lost Generation in Europe
Applicable to the Strand 2 – Measure 2.1 „Town-Twinning”
Participation: The project involved 1360 citizens, notably 30 participants from the city of Sesvete (Croatia), 30 participants from the city of Piatra Neamt (Romania), 60 participants from the city of Nagykovácsi (Hungary), 60 participants from the city of Szákszend (Hungary), 30 participants from the city of Následovce (Czech republic), 300 participants from the city of Imeľ (Slovakia) and 850 participants from the city of Andovce (Slovakia).
Location/ Dates: The event took place in the municipality of Andovce (Slovakia), from 26/07/2018 to 29/07/2018.
Day 1 – Thursday, July 26, 2018
The theme of volunteering has become linked to another European priority, with the theme of migration. How to continue in a united Europe. Volunteering was presented through the volunteer help to migrants. The topic of volunteering included material, financial and integration assistance.
Day 2 – Friday, July 27, 2018
The second day of the event focused on the theme of solidarity between the peoples of the EU and the generations. Thanks to these activities, various groups of the population were joined together, helping each other. The interconnection of generations (younger and older) was visible. The foundations of solidarity have been laid at the „local“ level, which is gradually growing to international level. The problems of seniors were at the center of attention.
Day 3 – Saturday, July 28, 2018
This day, the event developed the subject of European Citizenship and Humanism. The activities were implemented mainly in the area of knowledge of basic principles of mutual citizenship and activation of young people. Focusing on young people is a very important outcome of these activities. Young people have learned about the EU and have received an impulse for participation in public and European issues.
Day 4 – Sunday, July 29, 2018
On the last day, the activities focused on the area of culture and collaboration. A collaborative statement was gradually created during the events. Cooperation is a necessity for the population in all the affected municipalities. Cultural performances helped to strengthen the network and partnership and also helped to join the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
